When I started in real estate, I didn’t think much about relationships with other agents. Back then, I was laser-focused on my clients—serving their needs, answering their questions, and doing everything I could to close deals. It didn’t occur to me that the agents I worked with could be just as critical to my success. After all, they were on the other side of the table, weren’t they?
But over time, I began to notice something. Early on, when I reached out to other agents with questions or concerns from my clients, the responses I got were often brief or matter-of-fact. There was no extra context, no additional effort to collaborate or connect. At the time, I chalked it up to the high-pressure nature of the business. What I didn’t realize was that those interactions—or lack of them—were planting seeds for how future conversations would go. Relationships in this business aren’t built in a day, but they can shape how everything else unfolds.
